The Apex Police Department will soon be getting a major makeover and that means a big move for the department.
Bids for construction for the new public safety facility are planned to be awarded at Tuesday's Town Council meeting. Now, Chief Jack Lewis is getting his staff ready to move into temporary module units.
"The main challenge is going to be the actual move itself," Lewis said.
Lewis said the communication center will be transported to the trailers first then everything else will follow. He said besides their involvement with the construction, it will be business as usual once the move is completed.
"The public will see not a lot of difference in service and deliver of service. The goal is that it's seamless," Lewis said.
After the bid is awarded this Tuesday, the contractor will have 60 days to begin construction. The entire project is scheduled to take about 15 to 18 months.
