THE PARKER REESE FOUNDATION
HOUSE OF HOPES AND DREAMS RAFFLE
ANNOUNCEMENT
DURHAM, North Carolina-November 23, 2009- The Parker Reese Foundation announces today that the organization is raffling off a home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit The Parker Reese Foundation and Duke Children's Hospital in its continued efforts to provide support for families diagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH).
Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) is the absence of the diaphragm, or a hole in the diaphragm. The diaphragm is the breathing muscle that separates the chest cavity and the abdominal cavity. When an infant suffers from CDH the contents of the abdomen, including the stomach, intestines, liver and spleen, may go through the hole into the chest cavity. These contents prevent the normal development of the lung (pulmonary hypoplasia). After birth the infant will have difficulty breathing if the lungs are not developed. Unfortunately this congenital defect is often fatal.
About The Parker Reese Foundation
The Parker Reese Foundation was founded in January 2008 by Ashley and Jessica Singletary in memory of their daughter, Parker Reese Singletary who passed away from complications of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia.

It is our mission to distribute timely and useful information to the community, to encourage and advocating for infants and their families suffering from CDH and to sponsor public awareness campaigns. We are dedicated to funding research to enhance productivity in finding a cause and to successfully help those diagnosed with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia find effective treatment.
