Ballroom dancing may not be the first thing a spinal cord injury patient has on his mind, but therapists say recreational activities are an important part of resuming a normal life after a disabling injury.
A dancing exhibition was part of a Spinal Cord Injury Expo on Friday at UNC Hospitals. Organizers said the event was intended to make patients more aware of community resources.
"We wanted to provide a way for people to really understand that there are so many resources in the community that they can get in contact with to help them as they integrate back into their real lives," said Raheleh Tschoepe, an occupational therapist at UNC Healthcare.
