RALEIGH, NC . . . Veteran banker and former North State Bank employee Judy Stephenson has joined the Bank's Garner Board announced Christopher Bruffey, senior vice president and Garner market executive.
"Judy is a tremendous asset to us," said Bruffey. "She is one of the founders of North State Bank, and played a key role in opening and growing the Garner office. I can't think of a more appropriate person, or a more committed person, to have on our board."
After a 45-year banking career, primarily in Wake County, NC, Stephenson retired in June 2009 from North State Bank as executive vice president for business development and commercial lending after serving the Bank and its customers for ten years—since it opened on June 1, 2000. Her banking career included positions at People's Bank and Trust (now RBC), Central Carolina Bank (now SunTrust), Southern National Bank (now BB & T), and Triangle Bank (now RBC).
Judy has a distinguished record of community involvement, having served on the North Carolina State Personnel Commission, the North Carolina Building Authority, and the North Carolina Student Loan Program. Among her other commitments, she was a member of the Garner Rotary and a founding member of the North Carolina Heart Association. Presently, Judy is a trustee for Hospice of Wake County and advisory board member for the Wake Salvation Army Corp. Along with her husband, Tom, Judy is a member of Midway Baptist Church.
A native of Henderson, NC, Judy attended North Carolina State University, and is a graduate of Wilson Technical College, the North Carolina School of Banking at Chapel Hill Management Program, and the National School of Commercial Lending at the University of Oklahoma.
Judy joins ten others who already serve on the Garner Board: Jonathan D. Adams, David W. Bannister, Charlene B. Barbour (chair), Johnny G. Blankenship, Jerry E. Jones, Jim N. Massengill, Jason D. Moore, Tracy W. Pleasant and George F. Rucker.
Founded in 2000, North State Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of North State Bancorp (OTC: NSBC), is a full-service community bank, serving Wake and New Hanover Counties through seven full-service offices and a loan production office in Carteret County.
