Raleigh, N.C.—New York has Caroline's Comedy Club and Los Angeles has the Comedy Store, but Raleigh has Goodnight's Comedy Club. The venerable Triangle institution is celebrating its landmark 10,000th performance this Saturday, Oct. 24, with a special celebration featuring Jon Reep, a former Hickory resident and N.C. State Student who began his standup career at Goodnight's and went on to win big on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" reality TV show.
Reep, also known as the Dodge Hemi Guy from ubiquitous commercials, will be headlining at Goodnight's all weekend, but audiences for Saturday's shows can enjoy t-shirt giveaways and cake from The Cupcake Shop.
"I can't think of a better performer to help us celebrate our 10,000th show than Reep," said Goodnight's owner Brad Reeder. "He is a huge local favorite and tends to sell out fast. We're very pleased to have him help us thank our loyal patrons who have been coming to Goodnight's for years to see the best comics in the business."
Over its 27-year history, Goodnight's has hosted such top comedy names as Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld and Dave Chappelle. The Club was also featured in USA Today as one of "Ten Great Places to Sit Down and Watch Stand-Up."
