The YWCA Greater Triangle will celebrate its 27th annual class of the Academy of Women on Wednesday, November 4. This event recognizes remarkable area women and benefits the YWCA, whose programs address disparities in health, education, race relations and economics to make life-changing differences for thousands of area women and their families. It is the largest fundraiser of the year for the YWCA.

The Academy of Women is a distinguished honor, recognizing remarkable women who excel in their fields while maintaining a strident commitment to achieve the YWCA mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. Currently, there are 234 members of the Academy of Women, including notables: Governor Beverly Perdue, Rep. Linda Coleman, Justice Patricia Timmons-Goodson, and Dr. Maureen Hartford, president of Meredith College, among many others.
