The University of North Carolina is offering an unusual opportunity to view Douglas Gorsline's illustrations for Thomas Wolfe's famous novel, "Look Homeward, Angel."
The Center for the Study of the American South is exhibiting Gorsline's original drawings for the first illustrated edition, published in 1947 by Scribner's.
The exhibition features more than 50 pen-and-brush drawings loaned by the North Carolina Collection at the Wilson Library. The rarely exhibited drawings will be displayed 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Thursday through Sept. 24.
The novel by Wolfe, who grew up in Asheville and graduated from the University of North Carolina, was first published in 1929.
