State Senators approved a third continuing resolution for the budget Wednesday to keep government operating while they figure out a way to balance the 2009-10 spending plan.
HB 102, like the previous continuing resolutions, does not provide a deadline date.
In each previous case, the House has added a closing date.
The House clerk’s office says they have adjourned for the day, and will not act resolution until Thursday.
Lawmakers have been struggling with how to raise $990 million in revenue for the state budget. One plan was scrapped last week after Gov. Bev Perdue said she would not support the proposed 2 percent income tax increase. The plan also raised sales taxes by 1 percent and upped taxes on alcohol and cigarettes.
Perdue also said she wants about $250 million more in revenue to support public education.
