JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. -

On January 1, 2008, an immunization rule change was made that affects the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine requirements. This immunization change states that all individuals entering 6th grade on or after August 1, 2008 must be given one (1) Booster dose of Tdap vaccine if 5 years or more have passed since the last dose of tetanus/diphtheria, toxid (DTP, DTAP, DT OR TD).

The Johnston County Health Department will be administering this vaccine free of charge at a walk-in clinic on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please call (919) 989-5222 or (919) 989-5272 by Monday, August 17, 2009 to get your child registered for this clinic.

In an effort to help us plan, have adequate vaccine available, and avoid wait times, we would encourage each parent to call the health department or your private provider and schedule an appointment throughout the summer.

A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MUST ACCOMPANY EACH CHILD AND YOU MUST BRING AN OFFICIAL IMMUNIZATION RECORD WITH YOU.
