RALEIGH, N.C. -

If you haven't already gotten a DTV converter box, Wake County Human Services can help. Assistance is available at local health departments and human services locations to appply for the $40 coupon to offset the cost of the box.

Wake County residents can stop by any one of the following locations to apply for this federally-subsidized coupon that can be put toward the purchase of a DTV converter box:

Wake County Regional Centers
Millbrook Human Services Center
Sunnybrook Community Health Building
Swinburne Human Services Building

According to Wake Customer Service Director Brian Gunter, assistance will be available through July or until the federal government funding for the program runs out.  Converter boxes generally run between $40 and $100.

Volunteers will be at each of the above-listed sites to answer questions, provide more information on the conversion and fax written applications for citizens. Applications and information sheets will be provided in English and Spanish.
