A round of regional golf tournaments will honor firefighters who have died in the line of duty, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation announced Monday.

In 2009, nearly 40 U.S. regional tournaments will be held throughout the year to benefit the programs the foundation, which assists families of fallen firefighters.

The Raleigh Area NFFF Golf Tournament will be hosted at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday, June 11.

The proceeds from this tournament and all of our regional tournaments, will help the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation continue to develop and sustain programs such as the Taking Care of Our Own® Program, the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend and the Everyone Goes Home® Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives Program. These are just some of the programs the Foundation offers to help support families and the fire service.

In 2008, 23 tournaments were hosted across the United States and raised over $200,000 in support of National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Programs. The Raleigh Area NFFF Golf Tournament, now in its second year, has raised $8,240 to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
