The Kramden Institute will host its first annual ‘Heart Drive' Campaign, according to organizers, to "provide 175...students with computers this holiday season."
Computer recipients were nominated by teachers, guidance counselors, or social workers. They come from 20 school in five counties.
According to organizers, the schools represented in the HeartDrive include: Cary High, Merrick-Moore Elementary, East Chapel Hill High, Carrboro High, Powell Elementary, Efland Cheeks Elementary, Centennial Campus Middle, Smith Middle, Githens Middle, Davis Drive Elementary, Culbreth Middle, Hillside High, Sanderson High, WG Pearson Middle, East Cary Middle, Creekside Elementary, Enloe High, Glenn Elementary, Northern High, C.W. Stanford Middle, and Hawsfield Middle School.
Kramden will also host a holiday party for its volunteers on December 13. According to the organization, volunteers refurbished more than 1,400 computers this year so that 6,000 students and family members could cross the digital divide.
