HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. -

Hillsborough police, with the help of the Durham County Sheriff's Office, arrested two people in a drug raid late Wednesday night at 651 Oak St., south of U.S. 70.

The Durham County Sheriff's Office contacted the Hillsborough Police Department on Wednesday with information about controlled substances being sold in Hillsborough. Acting on the information, Hillsborough police - assisted by Durham County - served a search warrant at the house.

Officers seized 145 grams of marijuana; 52 grams of crack cocaine; 22.5 grams of powder cocaine; three handguns; more than $20,000 in currency; and a large amount of drug paraphernalia. They arrested two residents of the house.

"It was a great example of inter-agency cooperation," said Lt. Davis Trimmer of the Hillsborough Police Department's criminal investigations division.

Mike Riley, 31, and Torina Whitted, 39, were charged with trafficking in cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana; maintaining a dwelling for the sale of controlled substances; manufacturing a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of non-tax paid liquor.

Riley also was charged with maintaining a vehicle for the sale of controlled substances and with three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Both were held under $100,000 secured bond.
