Big time religious and civil leaders in the Triangle rallied for better treatment toward immigrants.
It stems from generalized comments made in newspapers and radio including one recent incident involving Johnston County Sheriff Bizzell's degrading comments on Hispanics.
Christian, Islamic, and Jewish leaders formed a coalition and members of the NAACP and the Latino community joined in, not to focus on immigration policy but to educate in the biblical sense.
"The problem is when someone comes here and they arrive, how do we treat them and what does the Bible, in my case the Hebrew Bible in particular say, about how we greet them," said Rabbi Eric Solomon, of Beth Meyer Synagogue. "It must be with an open heart and with open arms and with love," he said.
This is the first time, these separate religious leaders joined forces for immigration.
