Family of Rachel Mae Poston Pulley walked out of the Springfield Baptist Church on Sunday holding each other, still too distraught to talk about her death.
Pulley and two other workers died after an explosion at the ConAgra Plant in Garner on Tuesday, due to what federal investigators said was a natural gas leak.
Around 1,200 people came to the church Sunday to pay their respects at Pulley's funeral, one of two held Sunday for victims of the explosion.
"I'm going to truly miss her. I thank God for just knowing her," said Margaret Poston Blue, Pulley's aunt.
The service included music and reflections from Pulley's friends and neighbors, who described her as a funny, kind, sweet and religious woman.
Pulley died just four days before her 68th birthday, and is survived by six daughters and one son.
"Miss Rachel is going to be missed," said Linda Shire, who was a co-worker.
Shire said she and Pulley, who had worked at the plant for 16 years, were working on the same line when the building exploded.
"I looked around for her when the explosion happened and I didn't see her. After that happened I just went to running," Shire said. "She was a real sweet lady."
Pulley was later buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in Clayton.
A funeral service was also held in Erwin on Sunday for victim Barbara Spears.
Services for the third victim, Lewis Watson, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Johnston Community College auditorium.
