On Wednesday, October 28, 2009 members of the Clayton Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee visited East Clayton Elementary School and presented Kelli Sanderford with the Education SUPERSTAR award for the month of October 2009. She was presented with a "goodie" bag filled with donations from Chamber members as well as a $50 gift card from Walmart. Our thanks and appreciation to Kelli and all the amazing educational staff members who do an outstanding job every day!.
Mrs. Kelli Sanderford is a Kindergarten teacher at East Clayton Elementary School. Not only does Kelli teach Kindergarten full-time, but she is a teacher leader among the staff. She has served on the leadership team for many years and as school improvement chairperson for 2 years. Kelly graduated in 1991 from the University of NC @ Wilmington with a BA in Elementary Education. In 2009 Kelli graduated with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Campbell University. Kelli has taught in Johnston County for 18 years and achieved National Board Certification in 1998 (renewed certification in 2008). In 2000 Kelli won Johnston County Teacher of the Year. Kelli is married to David Sanderford and they have two daughters, Kaelin and Karlee. Kelli and her family reside in Clayton and they attend First Baptist Church.
