A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for southeastern Johnston County until 3 p.m. The storm warning also affects Wayne and Sampson counties.
At 1:55 p.m. National Weather Service radar indicated a severe thunderstorm six miles northwest of Salemburg or 15 miles
west of Clinton, moving northeast at 40 mph. Penny-sized hail is likely with this storm.
Locations impacted include Hobbton, Newton Grove and Grantham.
Officials said the main threat with this storm is the hail, which can cause some vehicle or roof damage. Strong and gusty winds can also be expected with this storm.
