Indian Artist Working In South Smithfield Elementary For Two Weeks

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. -

South Smithfield Elementary School is hosting artist Usha Raj, a native of India who currently lives in Durham, from January 5 to 16.

She will help enhance the school's partnership with a school in India.

In music classes, she is storytelling, teaching movement, dance, traditional songs and traditional Indian dress. During art classes, Raj will teach Rangoli art, Hindi writing, and explaining Indian artworks.

The Johnston County Arts Council is sponsoring the visit.
