Senior Bingo @ McDonald's
Each month on the 3rd Tuesday, we play bingo at the Selma McDonald's at 9:00am. Bingo is open to all interested senior citizens. Bingo is FREE and prizes are awarded. Upcoming date: January 20. Please join us for the fun and fellowship.
Knitting for All
Knitting is not just for Grandmas or Great Aunts! It is for anyone! Participants will learn basic and advanced knitting skills in this eight week class. After a registration form is completed then we will give you a list of supplies needed before the first class session. The class will take place every Tuesday evening starting on February 3, 2009. The fee for this class is $55.00. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, January 28, 2009. For more registration forms please stop by the Selma Parks and Recreation Office.
Senior Citizen Bead Class
This class will meet once a month on the first Tuesday starting on Tuesday, February 2, 2009. You will be making a Mosaic Heart. We will borrow a tiling technique and make a mosaic heart pin or pendant (your choice). You will glue beads onto a wooden heart and then covering the beads with grout. After cleaning up the grout, you will be left with a sunning piece of wearable Folk Art. Easy! The cost is only $10.00. You must sign up by Friday, January 30th, 2009. For more information: 975-1411.
Spring Soccer
Does your child come with grass stains? Then sign them up for a sport that requires them. A youth recreational soccer league for boys and girls ages 4-14 ( as of 8/1/08). Leagues are offered in the following age groups: 4-6, 7-8,9-10.11-12, 13-14. This program focuses on the fundamentals of soccer and developing the future player's team skills. Players will practice 1-2 times a week beginning in early March with games starting in mid-March and continuing through late April. The fee for residents is $25.00 and non-residents is $30.00. Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Skills Challenge
This program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to participate in an exciting basketball skills competition. This competition is open to all boys and girls ages 9 - 14 (as of 5/16/09) The challenge will showcase their shooting, dribbling and passing skills. The 1st place finisher in each age group may qualify for the regional competition (if their scores are in the top 4 regionally). All participants will be required to complete a registration form and provide proof of age (birth certificate). The event will be held at Selma Middle School at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2009. For more information: 975-1411
Senior Citizen Day Trip - The Barn Dinner Theater
Lights, Camera, and Action as we take a trip to The Barn Dinner Theatre in Greensboro to enjoy great food and a fabulous musical, comedy called "Church Basement Ladies" on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. You will not want to miss this show. The trip fee is $55.00 which includes transportation, dinner, and performance with gratuity included. We will be departing behind Selma Town Hall at 10:30 a.m. and returning at 7:00 p.m. The deadline to register is Monday, February 2, 2009.
