JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. -

Several people were injured after a car and a Johnston County Area Transit van collided Tuesday morning.

Johnston County Trooper Christopher Bell said a red Pontiac car, driven by 17-year-old Brianne French, crossed the eastbound lanes of U.S. 70 and pulled in front of the van around 6:30 a.m. on US-70 at Strickland Road.

Seven passengers aboard the van were transported to Johnston Memorial Hospital. Passenger Louise Everette, 64, was taken to WakeMed. Trooper Bell said Everette suffered the most serious of injuries, but are not life threatening. The driver of the van was not injured.

French was charged with failure to yield to right of way.
